Kitwe Mayor Christopher Kang’ombe suspended from the Patriotic Front (PF)

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Kitwe District chairman Evaristo Chilufya has indefinitely suspended Kitwe Mayor Christopher Kang’ombe from the party.

In a suspension letter dated  6th October,2020, addressed to Kan’gombe, Chilufya said the mayor has been campaigning in Kamfinsa Constituency against the party directive.

“It has come to my attention that you have continued campaigning in Kanfinsa Constituency disregarding the directive from the Central Committee memo dated 30th November 2019 which prohibits party officials from campaigning in constituencies where we have PF MPs and Independent MPs who we work with in parliament. This has been going on for some time despite many counsel given to you to abide by the Central Committee’s directive,” Chilufya said.

And Chilufya also said Kang’ombe held a press briefing at Kitwe’s Sherbourne lodge on Sunday 4th October, 2020 when he was fully aware that the Vice President and the PF Secretary General were in the same area.

He has charged Kang’ombe with insubordination, indefinitely suspended him, and further reffered his case to the Provincial executive for further determination.
